Britney Spears will non be playacting at the MTV Video Music Awards this twelvemonth, her manager has confirmed.
Reports earlier this month claimed that MTV bosses wanted to give the headliner a fortune to clear amends for her fateful appearance at the 2007 ceremony. Spears's performance of 'Gimme More' at the event was branded an "embarrassment" by critics last-place year.
However, the singer's managing director Larry Rudolph told Ryan Seacrest's radio show that Spears "is in the middle of recording her next record album, which is going amazingly well, and was never supposed to perform at that show".
He added: "Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I'm telling you
officially and unequivocally."
The ceremony will take place on September 7. Spears has been nominated in the Best Female category, patch the clip for her track 'Piece Of Me' is up for the Best Pop Video award.
